The man, who was fatally injured in a farm accident in Cork on Wednesday, January 22nd, has been named locally as Larry Costello.
It is understood that the man, aged in his 60s, was fatally injured when a heavy door of a grain trailer, which he was repairing, fell on top of him, shortly after 4pm.
The alarm was raised by two other people who were working nearby.
The emergency services attended the scene of the incident, which occurred in Whitegate; however, they were unable to revive him.
His body was taken to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
An Garda Síochána and the Health and Safety Authority are investigating the death.
