The country’s largest and widely celebrated coffee morning is set to take place this week on Thursday September 15th.
It is estimated that over 29,000 people die in Ireland every year due to cancer related illness. One fifth of those people have been supported by their local hospice.
In total so far €34,000,000 has been raised across the country by the hospice coffee mornings, with over 130,000 people taking part. There have been 3,348 coffee mornings held in total so far, with many more to take place this week.
All donations on the day go to Hospice and Home care group, to help those terminally ill have a comfortable passing. The money will go to help provide palliative Nurses, enabling them to visit the ill at their homes while it also helps them provide top quality care in hospice facilities.
The money also helps provide much needed equipment in Hospice centres. €50 wil help buy a walking frame, €250 helps buy and orthopaedic chair, whilst €400 helps buy a pulse oximeter andn €1,500 will buy a specialised bed. Every euro raised locally stays local, that’s the vow of the event organisers.
A great cause over 25 years in action. Get on down to your local coffee morning and help support those in great need.
