A new rural crime scheme was launched by Gardaí yesterday (January 23rd), where truck drivers from dairy co-ops in Limerick will be central to a new text alert system.
The scheme was launched in Bruff, Co. Limerick and involves drivers from dairy co-ops such as Kerrygold, Tipperary Co-op and Dairygold who are operating in the county. The scheme is being piloted in Limerick for a period of six months and drivers involved are to contact Gardaí if they see any suspicious activity whilst out on their travels.
The main focus of the scheme is to tackle increased crime in rural areas and isolated regions in particular.
