China will become the first billion euro market for Irish food and exports outside the UK, according to Aidan Cotter of Bord Bia.

Ireland can expect the arrival of a delegation of Chinese officials next week, who will commence several inspections in meat-processor plants.

Sealing the Deal

A green light status will be given if inspections are to a satisfactory standard, through the conduction of an examination, which will provide a veterinary health certificate with AQSIQ and once given will deem export eligibility.

Interaction been occurring between the two countries for sale time now, as a notable deal to secure full market access continues to edge closer.

March of the 2017 witnessed the visit of Chinese Minister to Irish soil to meet with Minister Michael Creed to discuss negotiations.

Billion Euro Market

In May of this year, Bord Bia secured a contract to promote EU beef and lamb in many countries including China.

China will become the first billion euro market for Irish food and exports outside the UK.

Speaking before his departure a few months ago Aidan Cotter of Bord Bia believed this could be achieved within the timespan of the next three years.
