Irish Charolais Cattle Society will be spicing up the format of this year’s Christmas Cracker Sale, which is calendared to occur on 2nd December.
Straying away from the traditional order of proceedings, female entries will be offered for sale at the Elite Heifer show and sale, this Saturday 11th November.
Golden Vale Mart, Tullamore is set to play host to the sale, which has a strong catalogue entry of 111 females.
All Heifers will be export tested, vet inspected and DNA sire verified.
The show will take place at 10 am followed by progression into the sales ring 12.30 pm, where Mr. Tom Cox is set to officiate as the auctioneer.
“A stand-alone sale”
Speaking to That’s Farming, Nevan McKiernan, Secretary of Irish Charolais Cattle Society said:
“It's the first time in a long time that Heifers won’t be at the Christmas Cracker. The main reason for moving was to give the Charolais females a stand-alone sale of their own. Our entry represents some of the best Charolais bloodlines throughout the Country and coming from some of Ireland's top pedigree Charolais herds.” Nevan told Catherina of That’s Farming.
“There are numerous prize winners from summer shows, including three first prize winning heifers from this year's National Charolais Show. If you are looking for a top quality Charolais Heifer this is where you will find her.” Nevan added.
The purchasers of the five top priced heifers will each receive a €250 premium.
Free first time membership with the Society is offered to any 1st-time purchasers at this sale.
