There was increased farmer activity at Castlerea Mart’s second sale of the year on Thursday, January 16th, according to Brendan Egan.
The manager noted that a larger entry went under the hammer with increased demand for stock.
“Much more positivity witnessed in all 3 rings with good demand on offer for all classes of stock.”
“The bullock ring noticed price increased this week, especially for short-keep stock.”
“The heifer rings reported good clearances, while the weanling rings witnessed the top-quality lots exceed €3.00/kg,” Egan added.
He outlined that the dry cow trade remained “very strong” also while breeding stock and the suck calves reported a brisk trade.
