162 buyers bid for 1,100 animals in Kilmallock Mart’s 3 online sales last week, according to a mart spokesperson.
332 bullocks were sold on Monday with a top price of €1710 or €1.85/kg being paid for heavy bullocks. Meanwhile, lighter store bullocks made up to €1210/head or €2.46/kg.
A small entry of young bulls earned up to €1070/head or €2.35/kg.
The spokesperson reported that the 436 calves on offer were met with an “excellent trade”. €415 was paid for stronger calves while young calves sold for up to €320.
On Wednesday, Dry cows sold for up to €1280/head or €1.67/kg while light heifers sold for up to €710/head or €2.95/kg. Heavier lots fetched up to €1340/head or €2.34/kg.
Sucklers reached €1260 each, while an entry of dairy breeding heifers made up to €750/head.
