The four month old Belgian blue calf died, after it was shot by intruders with a shotgun on Sunday afternoon, as reported by The Star UK.
The attack occurred at Parks Farm in Conisbrough near Doncaster. The calf was being housed in a shed at the time, when the intruder entered with the gun and fired two shots at the animal. The farmer and his workers were out in the fields harvesting crops at the time of the attack, which occurred during broad daylight.
A vet was called to the scene as soon as the animal was discovered, but it was too late as the calf lost its life. Police were also called, and specialist armed response officers arrived shortly after. The farmer and his family and team of workers are in shock over the incident. It has left the local community in shock, such was the violence of the crime. Mr Collin's wife took to Facebook in an appeal for any information on the incident.
The incident is currently being investigated by local police in South Yorkshire, and anybody with any information is urged to contact them on 101 or via Crimestoppers.
