The new competition has been launched by the Irish Hereford Society in conjunction with Slaney Foods International and Lidl Ireland.
The competition will offer a prize of €1,000 to 5 successful candidates at the next Ploughing championships in Tullamore September 19th - 21st.
The competition was launched last year for the first time, and it is hoped by the Irish Hereford society Chairman, Willie Branagan, that this year will build on last years success.
Last years winners are currently furthering their education in agriculture college and it is hoped that this years competition will generate interest from future agriculture students.
To try your luck in this competition please forward all submissions (2,000 word assignment on Ireland's Green Grass- Our pot of gold at the End of the Rainbow). Submissions should contain names, addresses and contact numbers and be submitted before Friday 25th August by email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Ten people will be chosen to qualify and will be contacted by phone on September 11th. They must also be available to attend the ploughing championships in Tullamore on September 20th and be available to interview.
Five finalists will be chosen by a leading figure in agriculture who will then receive financial assistance for their upcoming year in college.
