The European Commission are to suspend the importation of meat from several Brazilian exporters in the wake of the Brazilian meat scandal.
Four factories are to have their exporting suspended by the European Commission in the wake of the rotten meat scandal.
It’s been reported that 4 of 21 factories exposed in the massive 2 year investigation will have their licences to export to the EU suspended.
The move comes as further Irish political parties have added their voice to the scandal with Fianna Fail’s Charlie McConalogue calling on the minister for Agriculture to act and suspend meat imports.
Commissioner Phil Hogan told ICMSA President John Comer that action would be taken after their meeting yesterday.
The European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety is to travel to Brazil next week.
