Gardaí in Co. Offaly have issued a stark warning to dog owners in the area to command a greater control over their animals, after more sheep were lost to dog attacks.
The latest string of attacks occurred in the West of the county and resulted in the death of seven sheep. The farmer was on hand to witness the attacks, but was powerless to prevent them. A file is being prepared for the DPP in relation to the incident. Gardaí will now prosecute the owners of the latest dog attack.
The incident follows the recent sheep attack in Co. Roscommon, which resulted in the death of four sheep in the Kingsland area of the county, as reported by us here.
Gardaí have now warned, after the recent attacks, for all dog owners to have greater control of their animals and warned them over their responsibilities. They issued this warning, "This is what your pet can do to livestock.", with the below picture.
