Talks between representatives from various farm organisations, Meat Industry Ireland, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and other stakeholders resumed this morning (Monday, August 19th).
In a statement to That’s Farming this afternoon, a spokesperson for the Beef Plan Movement said: “It will be a long day and night.”
Topics discussed so far include;
- Live weighing – "farmers not prepared to fund it";
- Manual grading – "Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine will provide an appeals system for any queries and it would be in farmers’ interest to appeal as soon as possible";
- Price transparency – Beef Plan Movement is requesting that minimum and maximum prices are published along with the national average.
