Beef prices remain steady

Figures from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s database show that 39,466 cattle were presented for slaughter during the week commencing February 24th.

Summary:

  • Young bulls: 3,954;
  • Bulls: 748;
  • Steers: 12,978;
  • Cows: 7,319;
  • Heifers: 11,442.

Beef prices

Factories are quoting a base of between €3.65-€3.70/kg for steers this week, while a slightly higher base of €3.70- €3.75/kg is being offered for heifers.

Cull cows are ranging from €3.00-€3.50/kg, while €3.40-€3.60/kg is on the table for O/R/U grade young bulls.
