Beef Plan (2018-2025) has continued to form purchasing groups across the country.
The groups have national deals for BVD testing, soil sampling, vaccinations, minerals, forecourt fuels, insurance, electricity and insurance, according to a spokesperson.
There are also regional deals for fertiliser and county deals for concentrates, milk powder and other items.
The group said it hopes to grow these deals at national, regional and county level to cover all farm inputs over the next number of months.
“Right now, we can put every farmer in the country in a purchasing group.”
“There are two things that are important in terms of the profitability of any business and farming is no different - one is the price that is paid for inputs and the second one is the price received for outputs.”
“As regards the price we get paid for our outputs, as you know that side of things is controlled by big corporations who seem to be hell-bent on squeezing us out of business.”
“Most of the stakeholders seem to be on their side also and all parties that want change have an enormous battle ahead of them.”He added.
