Beef Plan Movement has launched two surveys to gather information for the establishment of two producer groups.
Those who have finished or factory-fit cattle and store weanlings, store heifers and store steers are being asked to participate.
“The purpose of the survey is to find out the information that is necessary for setting up a Beef Plan producer group.” a spokesperson for the group explained.
“This is an important part of our plan and we want everyone [ who finishes cattle/ sells store cattle] to spend 5 minutes completing this survey.”
In a video - which has been widely circulated in Beef Plan WhatsApp pages - Eamon Corley of Beef Plan Movement said: “Producer groups will enable us to sell our cattle collectively rather than us selling them in single file; it is a more business-like approach.”
“It will allow us to increase the value of our cattle,” he added.
Corley noted that the surveys has been designed in order to obtain information for exporters, factories and beef purchasers.
“The information we are collecting is necessary to set up these producer groups.”
“We have to find out how many cattle we have and what type of cattle they are. The only way we can get this information is to get it off you.”
“It is vitally important that everyone involved in beef fills out these forms so we can proceed and get these producer groups up and running.” he concluded.
