"A lot of the vested interests have been throwing the kitchen sink at us to try and stop us, but we beef farmers have the bit between our teeth now and will not be stopped"

Beef Plan (2018 - 2025) will continue to roll out its series of nationwide meeting this year, in an effort to achieve its goal of reaching 40,000 members.

The first meetings of 2019 which were confirmed at the time of publishing include:

  • Clare - Auburn Lodge Hotel on January 8th at 8:00pm;
  • Donegal/Derry/Tyrone Clanree Hotel, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal on January 9th, 2019 at 8:00pm;
  • Castlerea Mart, Co. Roscommon on January 16th at 8:00pm.
  • Glencairn Hotel, Castleblaney, Co. Monaghan on January 30th at 8:00pm.
Releasing a statement about Beef Plan Movement, Eamon Corley - the group's chairperson and one of the founding members - said: " Our numbers are progressing well; we have a target of 40,000. If everyone just added two new people, we will reach our target."

"The beef farmers of this country have this train crashing through the barriers and powering up the hill." He added.

"A lot of the vested interests have been throwing the kitchen sink at us to try and stop us, but we beef farmers have the bit between our teeth now and will not be stopped."

"Let's put it up to these people who have been crushing us for years." Eamon Corley added.

Committees

The Beef Movement has committees in place in a number of counties including Meath; Wicklow; Wexford; Longford; Westmeath; Laois; Kilkenny; Cork; Kerry; Clare and Tipperary; Galway; Mayo; Roscommon; Donegal; Cavan; and Armagh.

Eamon Corley - chairperson and one of the founders of the group said that these counties are now in a position to maximise the movement's efforts in terms of reaching its target - gaining 40,000 members.

The group is asking farmers to print off beef plan registration forms from the group's website and encourage farmers in those townlands to row in behind the plan.

"It will be about getting the foot soldiers out on the ground and making this happen. Everybody behind the wheel and no passengers." Eamon added.
