Co. Mayo will play host to this year’s Teagasc National Beef Conference on December 10th at 6pm.
The theme of this year’s event – which will take place in the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris, Co. Mayo – is Irish Beef – A Changing Landscape.
Topics covered include;
- New markets for Irish beef;
- Suckler efficiencies in practice;
- Factors affecting meat-eating quality;
- What will influence future beef policy?
Speakers include Vivian Silke - Teagasc Regional Manager; Mayo; Professor Gerry Boyle - Teagasc Director, Joe Burke - Bord Bia; Alan Dillion – Teagasc; Dr. Andrew Cromie – ICBF; and Dr. Donagh Berry – Teagasc.
A panel discussion on Brexit – facts and the future will be facilitated with speakers including Philip Blackwell - Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine; Kevin Hanrahan – Teagasc; Senator Ian Marshal; and Bernie Earley – Teagasc.
Topics include; meeting requirements for climate change; the contribution of the cattle sector to the rural economy, Brexit and beef and animal welfare.
The closing address will be delivered by Professor Tom Kelly, Director of Knowledge Transfer, Teagasc, at 9 pm.
