The man, Seamus McCarthy, appeared in court in Limerick on Tuesday charged with setting fire to a hay barn at local agricultural college Pallaskenry in Limerick.
The incident occurred in September of 2014.
Following investigations by Garda, Mr. McCarthy was found to be the one responsible for the fire.
His representatives on the day in court asked for a sanctioned probation report to be prepared ahead of sentencing, a request which was granted by Judge O’Donnell.
It is reported that during the fire a large number of bales were damaged and lost but that nobody or no animal suffered any injuries.
Though that being said emergency services tackled the blaze for over five hours until the fire was put out.
The court was adjourned to give time for preparation of a sanctioned probation court.
The accused will reappear before the courts on July 28th.
