A number of livestock died as a result of a hay barn fire in Co. Monaghan yesterday morning (Sunday, April 14th), according to Northern Sound.
Carrickmacross Fire Service was called to the outskirts of the town shortly after 7 am.
They battled the blaze at Inniskeen for three hours; one unit from Carrickmacross and one unit from Castleblayney attended the scene; a water tanker was used.
Releasing a statement on Facebook, Carrickmacross Fire and Rescue said: “Well done to the crews who attended the incident and attacked the fire in extremely difficult circumstances with the strong winds.”
“The fire was extinguished and the scene left safe.”
