There’s been a change of location to the long-running Athenry Agricultural Show. For fifty years, the show has been held annually in a field that is now being given up to constructing a new vocational school.
The new location of the show is at the Teagasc, Mellows Campus in Athenry. The date was changed to May 26th and the very popular show will also be celebrating their 130th anniversary in the town.
"A family day"
Speaking to That's Farming, Ciarán O’Keeffe, the Chairperson of Athenry Agricultural Show said: “There will be a family day for children of all ages, with something for the teenagers too”.
The Athenry show has re-introduced calf classes this year and they are hoping for a big entry as it proved very popular in other years.“We had more horses than ever last year,” said Ciarán “and more people than ever too. If we get the same type of crowd again this year, we want everything to be perfect”. Image Source: File Photo
