Today, British farmers and industry professionals are taking to social media in order to showcase their work, as part of ’24 hours in Farming’.
Farmers, Farming Organsations and Agricultural Businesses are dominating the internet, in order to show consumers the passion and commitment behind the food that is placed on our tables.
The digital event which will run on Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram for a twenty-four hour period, will see many posting photos and videos to tell the story of their enterprise.
Several got to social media this morning at 5am, in order to kick-start the initiative, which will run right through until 5pm this evening.
Having garnered the attention of many, the #Farm24 hashtag was trending on Twitter, in the U.K, soon after the launch.
To get involved, aside from social media streams, many have sent in videos, emails and have shared their stories on the airwaves.
The day is organised by Farmers Guardian and backed by the support of approximately one hundred Morrisons stores.
Many will share their story face-to-face in selected stores today.
Last year, participation soared to over 100 million and it is believed many more will build on last year’s success.
Could we take a leaf out of their book and introduce something of this nature in Ireland?
