Co. Down breeder Sam McCormick, has won the Diageo Baileys Irish Dairy Champion Cow 2017 with his cow, Hilltara Windbrook Maude 3.
The drinks company Diageo and its cream supplier Glanbia Ireland, have ended their annual search for Ireland’s finest Holstein Friesian dairy cow.
Hilltara Windbrook Maude 3, has been crowned by the Diageo Baileys Irish Champion and hails from 25 Kerrs Road, Bangor.
The winner, daughter of Gilette Windbrook reports 13,534 milk kgs, 910kgs fat and protein kgs and 2.84% protein.
The competition took place at the 76th annual Agricultural Show in Virginia, Co. Cavan which is home to Diageo’s cream supplier, Glanbia Ireland.
The competition rewards strength and form in body conformation as well as proven excellence in quality milk production.
With a prize fund of ten thousand euro, it is Ireland’s premier dairy competition.
The prize was awarded by Minister Michael Ring alongside Hazel Chu Head of Corporate & Trade relations for Diageo Ireland and Glanbia Ireland Chairman Henry Corbally.
