10 sheep found dead after suspected dog attack

10 sheep have been found dead in Southern Scotland as a result of a suspected case of livestock worrying by a number of dogs.

The incident occurred on Halmyre Mains Farm, near West Linton, on between April 15th and 16th, according to local police.

Pet owners

As a result of this discovery, dog owners have been warned to ensure their pets are in their control at all times when in close proximity to livestock.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Dog owners are asked to be aware of the effects of sheep-worrying, and let others know too.”

“Make sure you know where your dog is at all times. If you’re letting your dog off the lead, be confident there are no livestock nearby.”
