A smaller entry went under the hammer Tullow’s sheep sale on Tuesday (March 5th), with an improved trade reported by Eric Driver – Manager.
“Heavy hoggets are back up to the January prices; they improved by €5-€6/head.” He said.
Hoggets over 50kg sold for €124-€132 with the majority fetching between €127 and €130.
The lightest store hoggets from 30kg upwards made from the mid-€80 bracket with entries 37kg-42kg selling from €95-€105.
Lots 40-50kgs ranged from €114-€124 with the majority falling between the €118 and €120 bracket.
Cast ewes and in-lamb ewes
- Cast ewes made from €15 to €20 with the kg with the heavy feeding ewes topping out at €132;
- In-lamb ranged from €140 to €175 with ewes with singles at foot selling from €140 to €180 and ewes with twins making from €195 to €240.
