With over 1,400 sheep on offer, lambs were easier by €3-€4/head at Tullow Mart on Tuesday (June 18th), according to Eric Driver – Manager.
“We have seen the June resistance arriving in the sales ring with lambs meeting a harder trade across the board.” he added
Butcher-type lambs over 50kg sold from €119 up to a tops of €128, while well-fleshed 45kg to 50kg entries pushed from €114-€124.
Factory-type lambs weighing in excess of 40kg fetched from €104-€114.
“A larger number of store lambs on offer and the customers not plenty with the trade still reflecting similar to last year.”
Those in the 35kg plus bracket went under the hammer from €70 up to €86 - depending on quality. Lighter lambs 29kg and 30kg climbed from €74 up to €78.
With no change in trade, heavy ewes moved from €145-€152, while store/feeding-type aged ewes made from €15-€20 with the kg.
“Younger fitter ewes up to €30 with the kg and a very lively trade for all classes of cast ewes.”
