Strong demand for quality at Ballinasloe

Bullocks ranged from €2.21-€2.88/kg, while heifers sold from €2.18/kg-€2.96/kg and cull cows went under the hammer from €700-€1,620 at Ballinasloe Mart on Wednesday (September 9th).

Speaking following the weekly cattle sale, a spokesperson for the mart said: “A very good trade and strong demand for quality cattle.”

Bullocks:

  • 1 CHX – 705kg – €1,500;
  • 1 CH – 740kg – €1,500;
  • 1 CH – 645kg – €1,450;
  • 1 CH – 510kg – €1,470;
  • 1 CH – 405kg – €1,130;
  • 1 SA – 405kg – €1,100.

Heifers:

  • 1 CH – 675kg – €1,340;
  • 1 LM – 575kg – €1,300;
  • 1 CH – 645kg – €1,270;
  • 1 LM – 435kg – €1,290;
  • 1 LM – 410kg – €1,140;
  • 1 BA – 345kg – €890.

Averages:

  • Bullocks – €1,072/head or €2.21/kg;
  • Heifers: €974/head or €2.18/kg;
  • Dry cows: €1,155/head.
