‘Sharper trade for quality animals’ at Kilkenny

There was a smaller sale but a sharper trade for quality animals at Kilkenny Mart’s cattle sale on Thursday (June 11th), according to George Candler.

There was an improvement in trade for continental cows and heavy bullocks, although heifers showed the most improvement. With rings open to potential buyers and online trading continuing, more customers were operating throughout the sale.

Beef bullocks:

LM – 1000kg – €2.14/kg – €2.140;

2 LM – 695kg – €2.43/kg – €1,690;

AA – 655kg – €2.06/kg – €1,350;

HE – 545kg – €1.91/kg – €1,040;

CH – 520kg – €2.63/kg – €1,370;

LM – 460kg – €2.48/kg – €1,140;

3 CH – 490kg – €2.39/kg – €1,170;

4 CH – 390kg – €2.64/kg – €1,030.

Cull cows:

FR cull cows – €1.05-€1.30/kg;

Continental cull cows – €1.25-€2.06/kg.

Beef heifers:

3 HE – 705kg – €1.86/kg – €1,310;

LM – 625kg – €2.05/kg – €1,280;

SI – 620kg – €1.90/kg – €1,180;

LM – 585kg – €2.02/kg – €1,180.

Forward store heifers:

CH – 490kg – €2.55/kg – €1,250;

LM – 480kg – €2.08/kg – €1,000;

Cont. – 450kg – €2.11/kg – €950;

BB – 440kg – €2.07/kg – €910.

Light store heifers:

5 LM – 395kg – €2.71/kg – €1,070;

2 CH – 380kg – €2.13/kg – €810;

Cont. – 360kg – €2.28/kg – €820;

5 AA – 325kg – €2.15/kg – €700.
