A special sale of Weanlings brought in some lovely quality stock to Ballinrobe on Wednesday last which was matched by an appropriate trade, according to Tom McGuire, Manager of Ballinrobe Mart. Prices for the other categories appeared to be somewhat similar to the previous week.
A Charolais 535 kg made €1315.00 or €2.46 per kg, a Limousin-cross 480 kg made €1235.00 or €2.57 per kg and an Aberdeen-Angus- X 355 kg made €930.00 or €2.62 per kg.
A Charolais-X 635 kg made €1510.00 or €2.38 per kg; a Belgian Blue 465 kg made €1260.00 or €2.71 per kg and 3 black Herefords sold together 513 kg made €1110.00 or €2.16 per kg.
Best price in the Weanling Bulls went to a Charolais 445 kg made €1270.00 or €2.85 per kg. Top price in the Weanling Heifers went to a Limousin- X 290 kg made €985.00 or €3.40 per kg.
Dry Cows & Sucklers
Best price in the dry cows went to a Charolais 770kg made €1550.00 or €2.01 per kg.
A 5-year-old Simmental Cow calving in March to a Limousin bull made €1570.00.
Sheep numbers were similar to last week, Hoggets were making from €96.00 to €122.00 with fat ewes making from €85.00 to a €120.00, butcher Lambs were making from €100.00 to €125.00.
