Last Friday’s sale (March 20th) at Roscommon Mart seen a good number of cattle on offer with prices holding firm, according to Maura Quigley.
Bullocks averaged from €2.32/kg up to €3.39/kg while heifer prices ranged from €2.08/kg up to €2.60/kg. The number of dry cows were smaller, with lots earning from €1.49/kg up to €1.70/kg.
Quigley said farmers and agents were very active, resulting in a good clearance of lots.

Covid-19 restrictions
- No sellers will be allowed into the chutes to read their cattle;
- You are requested to hand the cards to the yard staff along with instructions to how you want them numbered;
- Sellers will only be allowed in the sales ring for the duration of the sale of their stock or, if they wish, they can have their animals sold subject;
- Sales are confined to buyers and sellers;
- No children allowed;
- No canteen in operation;
- Rings will be limited to numbers and are marked out for the purpose of physical distancing;
- All customers are requested to use gloves and sanitisers, which will be available at various points throughout the mart.
