Tuam Mart’s Annual Spring Show and Sale took place on Monday with a smaller than usual number on offer due to the inclement weather, according to manager Marion Devane. The manager said that this did not deter the buyers who travelled from Northern, Midlands and local areas. The prices reflected the number of Buyers in attendance with prices as follows.
Class 1: The Gay Brown Perpetual Cup for the best single Bullock went to Tom Mahon, Clough, Cummer, Tuam for his animal weighing 665kg made €1640. Second-prize went to John Joe Forde, Knocknatee, Dunmore for his animal 625kg made €1,500.
Class 2: Paddy Kilgarriff Perpetual Cup Best pair Beef Bullocks went to Keith Mannion, Carrarea, Milltown, Tuam for his animal 712kg made €1710. Second-prize went to Vincent Martyn, Woodquay, Tuam for his animals weighing 650kg made €1,580.
Class 3: St. Jarlath’s Credit Union three Bullocks Sean O’Brien, Carheen’s, Tuam for his animals weighing 711kg made €1690. Second prize went to Eddie McHugh, Kidsfort, Banaderg, Tuam weighing 466kg made €1090.
Class 4: St. Jarlath’s Credit Union, Best pair Continental Type Store Bullock’s went to James Comer, Cashel, Boyounagh, Glenamaddy for his animals weighing 640kg made €1530. Second-prize went to Tom Mahon, Clough, Cummer, Tuam for his animals weighing 720kg made €1680.
Class 5: AIB Bank Best Weanling Bull went to Michael Duignan, Cloondalgan, Garrafrauns, Dunmore for his animal weighing 540kg made €1350. In the Heifer section

Class 7: Halfway House Cup Best Store Heifer Went to Patrick Feeney, Gorthadubha, Claregalway for his animal weighing 630kg made €1650.
Class 8: Frank Glynn Perpetual Cup Best Beef Cow went to Michael Stephen, Corofin, Tuam for his animal weighing 1045kg made €2280.
