The trade remained firm in Maam Cross for the third sale of the year, with good numbers in the yard.
Speaking to That’s Farming, Bríd Burke of Maam Cross Mart said:
“Cattle numbers held strong this week in Maam Cross and saw a rise in the average price per kilo with a 95% clearance. Dry cows making up to €1345.”
“Despite sheep numbers being reduced we had a 95% clearance and prices held well,” Bríd added.
Dry cows averaged €1.95/kg to €2.24/kg to a max of €1,345 for a 4-year-old LM cow.
Cows with calf at foot averaged €2.59/kg to €2.95/kg to a maximum of €1820 for a 4.5-year-old SIM cow calving in August, with a heifer calf at foot.
Heifers averaged €2.43/kg to € 3.33/kg to a max of €1,200 for a 470kg LM heifer, 14-months-old.
Bull Weanlings averaged €2.59/kg to €3.28/kg with a max price of €935 for a 325kg 7-month-old Charolais
Lambs, Blackface and Crossbreds averaged €39 with a max price €85/head
Hoggets averaged €56 with a max price of €100
Aged ewes averaged €49 to a max price of €53
