Covid-19: Limit of 70 per ring at Ennis

Weanling bulls met with an improved trade, while weanling heifers were a shader easier at Ennis Mart on Monday (March 16th), according to a spokesperson.

“Calves improved but farmers are realising that calves have to be at least 3-weeks-old and well-fed.”

Dairy entries ranged from €1,160 to €1,510, while suckler pairings peaked at €1,780. 

The spokesperson noted that the general cattle sale was held under a new protocol as advised by authorities where numbers were limited in all salerings to approximately 70 people. “Clare Marts appreciates the co-operation of customers in implementing the necessary changes.”

WEANLING BULLS:

  • 2 LM – 297kgs – €850 – €2.86/kg;              
  • 2 LMX – 355kgs – €1,075 – €3.03/kg;
  • 1 LM – 280kgs – €815 – €2.91/kg;              
  • 1 CH – 420kgs – €1,120 – €2.67/kg;
  • 1 CH – 360kgs – €1,085 – €3.01/kg;                  
  • 1 CH – 420kgs – €1,060 – €2.52/kg;
  • 1 LM – 375kgs – €1,090 – €2.91/kg;                  
  • 1 LM – 325kgs – €1,040 – €3.20/kg.

WEANLING HEIFERS:

  • 1 LM – 260kgs – €875 – €3.36/kg;              
  • 1 LM – 415kgs – €1,250 – €3.01/kg;
  • 1 CH – 255kgs – €790 – €3.10/kg;              
  • 1 LM – 420kgs – €1,075 – €2.56/kg;
  • 3 CH – 280kgs – €770 – €2.75/kg;              
  • 1 CH – 325kgs – €970 – €2.98/kg;
  • 1 LM – 340kgs – €1,015 – €2.98/kg;                  
  • 1 LM – 345kgs – €960 – €2.78/kg.

SHEEP:

The spokesperson pointed out that hoggets were easier by €7-€8/head. Cull ewes went under the hammer from €55 to €125.
