Monday, January 13th saw some 520 lots go under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart’s sheep sale.
The mart’s auctioneer, George Candler, said that trade was similar to the previous week, with lambs peaking at €123/head and cull ewes realising €125/head.
Butcher lambs – €1.70-€2.37/kg or €118-€123/head:
- X10 70kg – €120;
- X16 58kg – €120;
- X10 52kg – €123;
- X10 51kg – €121.
Factory lambs:
- X15 47kg – €116;
- X20 45kg – €101;
- X30 44kg – €103;
- X8 42kg – €101.
Store lambs – €2.25/kg-€2.57/kg or €68-€95/head:
- X16 39kg – €94;
- X23 37kg – €95;
- X10 33kg – €83;
- X8 30KG – €69.
