Butcher and factory-type lambs were easier by €2-€3/head at Kilkenny Mart on Monday, October 14th, according to George Candler – auctioneer.
Some 440 entries were presented for sale; the auctioneer noted that store lambs and cull ewes met a steady trade.
“Reduced quotes from factories [are] not helping the situation. It appears the large supply of lamb coming from the North and further afield means factories do not have source extra supplies.”
“The increase in factory numbers is very much Brexit-orientated,” Candler added.
