Cull cows a ‘flying trade’ at Kanturk with prices to €1,990

Kanturk Mart Prices – 27-09-2022

According to Michael Scanlon, just under 550 cattle crossed the scales at Kanturk Mart on Tuesday, September 27^th, 2022.

He reported that the sale attracted “a fine turn out of top-quality cattle, which reported a full clearance”.

“Entries in the 500kg to 600kg were in great demand, making over €800 with their weight. Meanwhile, 120 cull cows also met a flying trade.”

Bullock prices:

• 5 HE – 690kg – €1500;
• 4 LM – 545kg – €1330;
• 6 HE – 550kg – €1280;
• 5 HE – 420kg – €990;
• 6 FR – 410kg – €740.

Heifer prices:

• 1 FR – 645kg – €1410;
• 5 AA – 590kg – €1290;
• 1 LM – 535kg – €1290;
• 3 CH – 500kg – €1200.

Cull cow prices:

• 1 HE – 830kg – €1990;
• 1 LM – 760kg – €1940;
• 8 HE – 625kg – €1450;
• 1 FR – 745kg – €1510.

Last week’s cattle prices

Meanwhile, last week, on Tuesday, September 20^th, the mart attracted a smaller entry of cattle due to the National Ploughing Championships and racing event in Listowel.

The spokesperson noted that “a good lively trade prevailed for all classes”.

“The standout price was for an entry of 15 Friesian cull cows weighing 700kgs at €1500,” the spokesperson concluded.

Heifer prices:

• 2 AA – 555kg – €1400;
• 3 CH – 500kg – €1300;
• 2 LM – 505kg – €1270.

Runner prices:

• AA bulls – €280 -€570;
• AA heifers – €345 – €500.

Cull cow prices:

• 1 HE – 830kg – €2040;
• 1 CH – 860kg – €1850;
• 15 FR – 700kg – €1500;
• 1 AU – 730kg – €1730.

Bullock prices:

• 8 LM – 665kg – €1400;
• 2 HE – 650kg – €1370;
• 3 HE – 530kg – €1230;
• 8 LM – 500kg – €1130.
