‘Large attendance’ of factory and farmer customers at Carnew

Carnew Mart’s annual show and sale of bullocks, which was held on Saturday, January 25th, attracted some 1,200 head, according to David Quinn.

The manager said there was an exceptional yard of quality beef and store cattle on offer. “Trade was brisk with a large attendance of factory and farmer customers leading to a full clearance.”

The champion of the show came in the form of an 888kg Charolais-X bullock, which sold for €2400.

Best continental beef bullock:

1. 1 CHX – 888kg – €2500;
2. 1 LM – 840kg – €1920;
3. 1 LM – 672kg – €1580.

Pair of continental factory bullocks:

1. 2 CH – 740kg – €1740;

Best non-continental factory bullock:                

1. 1 HE – 640kg – €1340;
2. 1 HE – 660kg – €1270;
