470 cattle went under the hammer at Ballinrobe on Wednesday, according to manager, Tom McGuire. Mr. McGuire noted that the quality of cattle was not as good as the previous week, but revealed that nevertheless, everything on offer was sold.
A Charolais-cross 745 kg topped out at €1910.00 or €2.56 per kg; a Limousin-cross 520 kg hit €1400 or €2.69/kg; an Aberdeen-Angus 345 kg fetched €1010.00 or €2.93 per kg and 3 Hereford-crosses sold together 270 kg peaked at €700.00 or €2.59 per kg,
A Limousin-X 565 kg led the category at €1405.00 or €2.49 per kg; a Charolais 435 kg realised €1155.00 or €2.66 per kg and a Limousin 535 kg made €1350.00 or €2.52 per kg.
- Weanling Heifers: Charolais 290 kg made €970.00 or €3.34 per kg.
- Weanling Bulls: Limousin-cross 255 kg hit €1050.00 or €4.12 per kg.
Cull Cows & Suckler Pairings
- Charolais 755 kg realised €1620.00 or €2.15 per kg.
- A Limousin cow with Charolais heifer calf at foot made €1560.00.
Sheep numbers were up on the previous week with prices improved all round, according to Tom McGuire. Hoggets made up €100.00 to €150.00; Fat Ewes asked €80.00 to a €135.00; butcher lambs climbed from €131.00 to €142.00 and Ewes with couples clicked from €180.00 to €240.00
