Cattle numbers are climbing each week in Ballinrobe with the biggest sheep sale of the year on Wednesday last. Quality cattle are remaining very dear with very little variance in sheep prices from week to week.
Best price in the Weanling heifers went to a Limousine X 295 kg made €970.00 or €3.29 per kg.
A Charolais heifer weighing 525kg made €1350.00( €2.57 per kg), while a Limousin 715kg sold for €1,600 (€2.32 per kg) and an Aberdeen Angus X 345kg was fetched for €890.00 ( €2.58 peg kg).
Some example of prices from the Bullock ring, a Limousine X 655 kg made €1560.00 or €2.38 per kg, 3 Red Limousines sold together 503 kg made €1315.00 or €2.61 per kg, a Limousine X 455 kg made €1280.00 or €2.81 per kg.
Top price in the Weanling Bulls went to an Aberdeen Angus 296 kg made €900.00 or €3.04 per kg.
Top price in the Dry Cows went to a Simmental X 735 kg made €1500.00 or €2.04 per kg.
A Charolais cow with a black Limousine bull calf @ foot made €1725.00.
With 3000 sheep on offer trade remained very firm all day.
Store lambs were ranging making from €68.00 to a €100.00, fat lambs were making from €92.00 to €118.00, fat ewes making from €83.00 to €120.00.
