There was quite a big sale in Balla on Saturday, (June 29th) with three rings in operation.
There was “a good trade with prices holding up well” according to Anthony Murphy, and “some great cattle, especially some two-year-old quality Charolais bullocks.”
Bullocks 300kg - 400kg were making up to €650 with the weight and they averaged €2.04/kg. A 390kg CHX fetched €1,040.00 at 2.67/kg, while heavier types - 500kg plus - were less and averaged €2.06/kg.Heifers
“There was a good turnout of heifers, trade was similar to last week.” Heifers up to 400 kg averaged €2.29/kg while heifers 400kg to 500kg averaged €2.18/kg with the weight.

- LMX - 425kg - €1,140 - €2.68/kg.
- CH - 850kg - €1,700.00 - €2.00/kg.
There were eighty cows in the ring this week the spokesperson added.

An April 2014 LMX cow & LMX Bull calf at foot sold at €1,650.
There was a smaller sale of weanlings this week according to the spokesperson. Bulls up to 350kg averaged 2.20/kg while those 350kg to 450kg averaged €2.49/kg. The sale topper came in the form of an LMX 460KG that reached €1,100.
