Bullocks 300kg to 400kg made up to €660 with the weight and averaged €2.02/kg – a BBX –390kg - €1,050 or €2.69/kg, while stores from 400-500kgs averaged €2.05/kg – a CHX - 480kg - €1,180 or €2.40/kg.
Heavier bullocks weighing 500kg plus averaged €2.01/kg – a CHX - 725kg - €1,690 or €965 over the kg.
A mart spokesperson noted that heifers met a stronger trade than bullocks. Heifers up to 400 kg averaged €2.29/kg – a CHX - 365kg - €1080 or €2.96/kg, while 400-500kg heifers averaged €2.14/kg – a CH - 475kg - €1,105 or €2.33/kg.Heifers weighing 500kg averaged €1.99/kg – a CHX – 685kg - €1,365 or €1.99/kg.
Cull cows and suckler pairings
In the cull cow ring, a top call of €2,000 was recorded for a February-2010-born Charolais cow weighing 1205kg (main image).
In the suckler ring, a March-2010-born BBX cow with her CHX bull calf climbed to €1,740.
Bulls up to 350kg averaged €2.05/kg, while those 350kg-450kg averaged €2.27/kg – a LMX – 380kg - €960 or €2.53/kg.
