Monday Weanlings sales were in full swing at Balla Mart yesterday, with quality lots on offer. It was noted that quality continental lots met with a flying trade, with strong activity from exporters, however; plainer lots were harder sold considering the adverse weather conditions of later and looming food shortages in some regions.
The weanling bulls 200 to 350kg averaged €2.61/kg, while heavier types 350 to 450 kg averaged out at 2.47 p/kg. Lots hitting the scales at 450kg plus reported an average price of €2.47/kg - A May-2017 born 465kg CHX bull sold for €1,460.00 or €3.14/kg.
