Another storm was caused yesterday, this time on Twitter, as a bull got loose in New York.
The incident occurred yesterday morning, Tuesday October 17th, at approximately 11am. The bull was seen by various members of the public in Brooklyn, New York, being caught on camera in the process.
“Just saw a COW bolting up 17th St in S. Slope. On the sidewalk. In case I thought there was nothing new to be seen after a lifetime in NYC.”, one Twitter user posted.
The creature then made it’s way into Prospect Park, which is a huge green landscape in Brooklyn’s nucleus. News reports suggest that the animal may have escaped from a local slaughter house, though this is yet to be confirmed. This would not be the first case of it’s kind, with a bull having escaped in the city just over a year ago.
The bull entered Prospect Park yesterday morning, but was stationed in one of the baseball fields nearby. Officials then gathered as the public watched the events unfold. Animal officials eventually arrived on the scene and took control of the situation. They eventually tranquilized the animal and removed it from the park after hours of trying to capture it with a net.
The bull has been housed at a local Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue in New Jersey. They have named the bull Shankar, meaning happiness of prosperity. He will be quarantined in the facility for a month, when he will be introduced to the other 40 cattle, provided he is fit and healthy.
The bull isn’t thought to have caused any significant injury of damage, with only one report and that being it clipping a baby’s stroller.
A worker at Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue in Wantage, New Jersey, said the bull is being taken to their facility.
