A vegan, environmentalist, campaigner has come in for criticism, after Piers Morgan called him out for wearing leather.

George Monbiot appeared on Good Morning this week, Monday 9th, calling for an end to livestock farming, as reported by farminguk.com.

The environmentalist and vegan campaigner was been interviewed by Piers Morgan at the time and called on people to stop eating meat and consuming dairy. Mr. Monbiot appeared after an article he recently published, calling for an end to livestock farming caused a storm in the agriculture world. His article was called “Goodbye - and good riddance - to livestock farming” and was published in the Guardian.

Piers Morgan spotted that Mr. Monbiot, during the interview, was wearing a watch with a strap made from leather. He called the vegan out live on television for the act, after the campaigner compared livestock farming to “slavery” and called it a “modern day monstrosity”. Piers then challenged Mr. Monbiot on where the watch had come from.

“My watch strap is from the Wednesday market in the town where I live.Yes, it's leather. It came from a cow, believe it or not, so did my shoes.”

“Do you not think you should be leading from the front,” Piers Morgan replied.

“You’re telling us to give up meat? But you want to kill these animals for your watches and your shoes? Some would say that was shameless hypocrisy.”, he continued.

George then responded: "I'm not being 100 per cent purists about this but I am trying to persuade people to change their habits in quite a radical way."
