Dairy Update: Calving, AI and switching to baled silage

Good demand for store bullocks at Tuam

There was a steady trade for all types at Monday’s cattle sale; cull cows met a fine trade, with up to €2.84/kg recorded for weanlings.

Sheep easier by €4-€7/head at Kilkenny

Butcher lambs hit €126, factory lambs sold to €113, store lambs realised €99 and cast ewes fetched up to €110. Freshly-calved dairy entries made up to €1,980.
