Another Open day is set to take place in Cork next week on Tuesday the 18th of July.
This time it's the Farrell's of Ballinguile, Churchstown, Mallow co. Cork who are set to open the gates to their mdoern dairy farm.
Owners Michael Margaret and Alan will see public enter their farm from 12p.m. up up until 4:40p.m.
With the recent developments in the dairy industry and the Ag-tech sector in particular, there has been a wide interest in the modernised facilities on the Farrell's farm.
The farm has up to date facilities both in the parlour and the yard with a focus on the most up to date dairy technology, hygiene and herd health.
The her consistes of 120 pedigree Holstein Friesians and they have an average yield of 8,000 litres pa.
Last year butterfat was 4.12 % and protein was 3.51 %.
Milk is supplied to Dairygold Coop and the herd is milked in one hour or less in the new parlour.
The open day will give the public a chance to see the farm up close, but also will be attended by ten Agri exhibitors from across the dairy industry.
These include Dairygold, Southern Fuel and Farm Supplies, Barrett Agri, Philip Walsh Refrigeration & Electrical, Deosan, Ballyhea Ready-mix, FBD, O’ Donovan Engineering, AIB and Dairymaster.
These companies will be on-hand to provide specialist advice to everyone in attendance.
On the day there will be talks and demos from speakers on topics such as farm safety, hygiene, managing production, cubicle layout, nutrition, TAMS funded investments and much more.
The day also offers the opportunity to visit a hi-tech farm where a brand new fully automated 24 unit Dairymaster Swiftflo Fast Exit Parlour has recently been installed.
This is an excellent opportunity for farmers to talk with the speakers and trade exhibitors.
There will be live milking at 3.30pm where you can see and experience the parlours innovative features in action. Michael and Alan will be available on the day to answer all questions.
