Carlow farmer, Paddy Kennedy, embarked on a difficult challenge in recent days, August 5th, to undertake the longest journey reversing a tractor and trailer.
The previous record was set by Cavan farmer, Patrick Shalvey, on the Big Week on the farm when he completed a 20.16km journey. Farmer Paddy Kennedy has gone one further however, by reversing a tractor and trailer the whole way from Carlow IT to the Mount Leinster Rangers GAA grounds.
He completed the 31.26km journey just before lunchtime on the day, having started the task at 10am. The feat represents a huge success for a farmer who previously lost one of his legs in a farm accident. Paddy’s journey was also livestreamed on Facebook and which he will use to seek of the record from the official Guinness World Record team.
The feat was all done in aid of Mount Leinster GAA club, with any funds raised going to pay for recent redevelopments.
