David MaGee, a ruminant nutritionist with Kiernan Milling, is back and this time he’s teaching us all about the body condition score of 3.25.
David tells us that the cow, pictured, has a smooth spine with a lot more fat on her tailbone which he says is “easily grabbed”. Overall the cow is a lot more rounded, compared to cows shown in previous weeks.
David tells us that because you can only feel the cows ribs with pressure, she has a body score of 3.25.
“She’s just right for Drying off” said David.
“We should be hoping that she would run into no metabolic problems” he adds.
