Temperatures are set to remain in the mid to high teens this week, according to Met Éireann, with some scattered showers and good sunny periods expected also. Read more below.

Monday - There will be some sunny spells early on Monday, mainly in the east of the country, though it will be cloudy overall. There is expected to be some patches of mist and drizzle, even some fog, on coastal counties. Temperatures will be 16 degrees at most in northern counties and between 18 to 21 degrees elsewhere. Best periods of sunshine will be in the south, with moderate, fresh, breezes in coastal areas, southwest in direction.

It will be misty in places Monday evening and for a time tonight, though it will be generally dry. Drizzle and light rain will become fairly widespread later in the night, with further hill and coastal fog expected. Lowest temperatures overnight of 9 to 12 C., in light variable or westerly breezes.

Tuesday - There will be some persistent and heavy rain in parts of Connacht and west Ulster on Tuesday. It will be mostly cloudy and misty elsewhere, with some scattered patches of drizzle and fog, but a few bright spells at times also. Temperatures are expected to hit the mid-teens over northern areas, but high teens or even low twenties over more southern areas.

Tuesday night will be cloudy with rain. The rain will be quite continuous, and heavy in parts of the north and west for a while.

Wednesday - A cloudy start expected in the east on Wednesday, with rain here for a time in the morning. It is forecast to be clearer and mainly dry elsewhere and this will spread to all areas, with some good sunny spells. It will be dry overall, apart from isolated showers in northern counties. It will become fresher with breezes moderate and westerly in direction.

Thursday - It will be mainly dry, with settled weather on Thursday. It will be a dry day, though cloudy overall and light winds. Early indications suggest temperatures will again be in the mid to high teens.

Friday - Early forecasts suggest a dry day throughout the country on Friday, with light variable winds. There is expected to be some good, warm, sunny spells with variable cloud.
