A video of an 11-year-old dairy farmer from Aherla, Co. Cork has gone viral on social media.
The footage posted by Peter Hynes of his daughter Becky, shows the young dairy farmer leading an early Sunday morning milking. The original clip posted on Twitter from their state-of-the-art milking parlour has already gained over 40,000 views and over 1,800 likes.
In a recent interview with That’s Farming, Becky outlined that her interest in agriculture was first sparked when she was five-years-old. While she may only be 11-years-old, the first-generation farmer has plans to study agriculture at third-level.
The Hynes - Peter; Paula; Chloe; Becky and Georgie are an award-winning family farm milking approximately 150 cows, the majority of which are pedigree Holsteins along with a number of pedigree Jersey cows. The family has raised over €20,000 for charity in the last twelve months, with proceeds donated to Embrace FARM; Aware and Breast Cancer Ireland.
Paula travelled across the waters to Africa to live with the Massai to experience ‘The Hardest Harvest’ as part of an RTÉ-one documentary.
