Two ponies have been rescued in recent days by the Animalwelfareorganisation, My Lovely Horse Rescue.
The two animals were found after a member of the public reported them wandering the roads to the organisation. Upon finding the horses, they were said to be in a very poor condition. The ponies were found wandering down the road in Tallaght but were diverted into a nearby field by locals (see picture of field below).
One of the animals was approximately 3 to 4 months old, with the other approximately one year. They were found to be full of worms, very thirsty and emaciated.
“They were wandering the roads in Tallaght but thank God for locals who alerted us and got them into a field he past couple of months have just been crazy for the volunteers of MLHR.”, the group’s post on Facebook reads.
“both full of worms. The youngest emaciated, scared and very thirsty”, it continued.
The group say they were helped by local children and adults, who helped carry water to them and other thirsty ponies in the area. The group spoke to thank them and local Gardaí for their help.
“Thank you Tallaght locals and Gardaí”, their post concluded.
The group also posted a picture earlier today, July 12th, of two horses loose along the roads in Parkwest, Co. Dublin, in an act described by them as "dangerous". See below picture.
The charity are calling on donations to help them continue their work and to enable them to provide feed and bedding to all rescued animals. They say their hay bill for the coming year will be in excess of €30,000, with bills for feed, bedding and veterinary care totalling €40,000. You can donate via their gofundme page here.
